Saudi-led coalition says power station attacked in Medina, blames Houthis

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen reported on Thursday that Houthi forces launched a drone strike targeting the Taibah power distribution station in Madinah, a civilian facility responsible for supplying electricity to the Prophet's Mosque. The attack took place at 5:11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29.

According to Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki, investigations and evidence collected by the relevant authorities, including a post-attack review and analysis of the drone wreckage, confirmed the involvement of the Houthi militia in orchestrating and executing the assault. The strike disabled one power transformer but did not disrupt the overall electricity network, Al-Maliki stated.

General Al-Maliki characterized the attack on the civilian power station as part of the ongoing Houthi efforts to target the Two Holy Mosques of Mecca and Medina, as well as to incite Muslims worldwide through strikes against the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. He emphasized that the coalition would persist in implementing measures to counter the Houthis and safeguard the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and the security of pilgrims visiting Makkah and Madinah.
