Rapper Rick Ross arrested on domestic violence charges
The rapper Rick Ross was arrested Thursday morning in Miami, Florida, on domestic violence-related charges, authorities confirmed to CNN.
Rapper Rick Ross was arrested in Miami, Florida on Thursday morning for domestic violence charges, according to authorities. The rapper, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre at 6:10 a.m. on Thursday, with bail set at $5,000 for two counts of battery, both related to domestic violence.
Ross' attorney stated that the allegations are "wrongful" and that the ex-girlfriend did not file a police report until a month after the incident. Ross denies the charges and requests that people not prejudge the situation until the judicial process is concluded. The allegations stem from a September 26 incident where jazz model and content creator Jazzma Kendrick accused Ross of physically assaulting her, posting photos of her with injuries to her lip.
Ross, a longtime Miami resident with properties in Miami Beach and Atlanta, has a history of legal issues, including a 2015 arrest for allegedly pistol-whipping a groundskeeper at his Atlanta estate. Ross is set to be arraigned on October 22 for the Miami charges.
