Punjab Launches Dedicated Emergency Helpline for Women and Children

The Punjab Police is set to introduce a new emergency helpline system specifically for women and children, according to recent reports. This initiative will initially be piloted in Model Town Division, with female police personnel serving as the first responders to calls made to Police Emergency Helpline 15. Once a relevant call is received, female officers will promptly arrive at the scene after receiving an application from the affected woman.

At the scene, these officers will issue a diary number for the case, eliminating the need for the woman to visit the police station repeatedly. The system aims to reduce unnecessary travel after a case has been registered and provide legal guidance through female police officers at the scene. If the pilot project in Model Town proves successful, the system will be expanded to other areas.
