On3 podcast co-host has Notre Dame earning a bye in mock CFP bracket
Experts are confident that Notre Dame will reach the CFP this season. Blain Crain, co-host of Crain & Cone, has the Irish as a high seed
On3 podcast co-host Blain Crain has Notre Dame earning a guaranteed spot in the College Football Playoff this season. The Fighting Irish are currently ranked third in the US LBM Coaches Poll and have a strong chance of securing one of the top-four seeds. Crain envisions the Irish facing either No. 7 Indiana or No. 10 Alabama in the quarterfinals, but acknowledges that this would likely require an undefeated season.
Though rare, it is not impossible for a team to claim a perfect record in college football, as the Indiana Hoosiers achieved last year. As Blain Crain concludes, "Hope another Indiana team does it in 2026."
