MRT Corp: Overnight lane closures on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah in George Town until Nov 30 for Mutiara Line works

George Town residents will face temporary road closures on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah from tonight until November 30, as part of construction work for the Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. The Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) announced the lengthy closures, which will occur between 10pm and 5am. The affected stretch runs from Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal to Batu Uban Road Transport Department (RTD) office.

Drivers should prepare for lane restrictions in both directions, with the leftmost lane and rightmost lane affected between Lorong Sungai Dua 1 and Batu Uban RTD office. The leftmost lane from Lorong Sungai Dua 1 to Persiaran Batu Uban (towards Bayan Lepas) will also experience closures. Authorities request that motorists exercise caution and remain alert during the closure period, as signage, traffic cones, and flagmen will be deployed to manage traffic and ensure safety.
