US rapper Macklemore expressed shock after all three performances for his "Free Palestine" tour sold out "immediately." The 43-year-old, also known as Benjamin Haggerty, announced the London, Paris, and Dublin shows earlier this month after being dropped from Ed Sheeran's Loop tour due to remarks he made about Gaza. Other artists on the Loop Tour, including Aaron Rowe, Finneas, and Lukas Graham, as well as Macklemore's backing band Beoga, subsequently canceled their appearances.
In an Instagram post after ticket sales opened, Macklemore stated, "All three shows sold out immediately. I'm honestly blown away." He emphasized the collective action and solidarity being displayed, and the potential for art to serve as resistance when those in power try to silence calls for liberation. Macklemore's tour aims to raise funds and support various organizations working on humanitarian aid, medical care, education, community support, and advocacy for people in Palestine.
