Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos has announced that the sequel to "KPop Demon Hunters" will receive a broad theatrical release. The original animated series achieved significant success on the platform, garnering 325.1 million views within its first 90 days and spending 63 consecutive weeks in the Global Top 10.
Sarandos made the statement while discussing Netflix's evolving distribution strategy, which includes providing longer theatrical windows for select films. According to Sarandos, the company aims to cater to passionate audiences who prefer watching movies in theaters.
Netflix has already implemented this approach with other upcoming releases, including "La Bola Negra," Greta Gerwig's "Narnia," and an animated "Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory." The David Fincher-directed film "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth" is also set to receive an IMAX release in November.
