KMA issues final eviction notice to Abrepo Junction occupants ahead of interchange project

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has given a final eviction notice to traders, garage owners, and businesses operating at Abrepo Junction and surrounding areas. The deadline for relocation is Sunday, October 4, 2026, to clear the way for preparatory works under Phase 1 of the Suame Interchange Project. Enforcement and demolition will begin immediately after the deadline, according to the KMA.

A team will remove unauthorized structures, goods, equipment, and building materials from the affected area starting Thursday, October 8. The notice follows an initial communication sent on August 25, 2026, asking occupants to voluntarily relocate. Phase 2 of the Suame Interchange Project is currently 87% complete and will open to traffic in October.

Phase 1 will involve constructing a three-tier interchange, two overpasses, and widening the Eastern and Western Bypass Roads. At Abrepo, this will include relocating utility infrastructure and preparing for traffic management. Affected occupants are advised to leave the area before the deadline, as the KMA will not be responsible for any loss or damage to items left behind.

Traders can relocate to the Racecourse Market, while garage owners should contact the Works Engineer at the Racecourse Market for assistance. The KMA urges all affected persons to cooperate to ensure the timely start of the works, which will improve traffic flow and transportation within the Kumasi Metropolis and expand the city's road network.
