KKM batal notifikasi produk kosmetik beracun
Kementerian Kesihatan gesa orang awam untuk elak beli dan guna produk kosmetik GB Daily Glow Skin Cream.
Putrajaya: The Malaysian Health Ministry (KKM) has revoked the notification for cosmetics brand GB Daily Glow Skin Cream after discovering it contains dangerous levels of mercury, making it illegal to sell in the country. Mercury is prohibited in cosmetics due to its ability to be absorbed into the body and cause damage to the skin and nerve systems.
KKM warns that mercury can also disrupt child development, especially for unborn or young children. The ministry urges the public to avoid purchasing and using this cosmetic product, and to stop using it if they experience any adverse effects. Those currently using the product are advised to seek professional medical advice immediately.
Retailers and distributors involved in selling this tainted cosmetics must cease all sales and distribution immediately, as it violates the 1984 Drugs and Cosmetics Control Regulations. Individuals found guilty of this violation can face a maximum fine of RM25,000 or up to three years in prison, or both for the first offense, and a maximum fine of RM50,000 or up to five years in prison for subsequent offenses.
Companies guilty of the same offense can be fined up to RM50,000 for the first offense, and up to RM100,000 for subsequent violations.
