The young squad opened the scoring with a penalty from Tan Cheng Hoe after an assist from Korea South referee Kim Jong-hyeok subsequently awarded a penalty following VAR review, as Singapore's Ryhan Stewart was fouled in the penalty box during the fourth minute. Naturalized striker Bergson da Silva calmly converted the penalty, followed by his second goal in the match just four minutes later, putting Malaysia ahead by one goal.

Singapore mounted pressure and nearly tied the score in the 14th minute when Song Ui-young bypassed Malaysia's captain Dion Cools, though his close-range effort was saved by Ahmad Syihan Hazmi. Another goalless spell followed until Malaysia extended their lead in the 26th minute as Stuart Wilkin converted a brilliant assist from Manuel Hidalgo, who had evaded three Singapore defenders in the penalty box.

Bergson returned to the scoring in the 62nd minute after an adept set-piece by Arif Aiman, which extended Malaysia's lead. Substitute Paulo Josue extended the lead to 4-0 in the 76th minute, again via an assist from Aiman. One more substitute, Syahir Bashah, added the fourth goal just four minutes from the end. Bergson completed a hat-trick in the second half to seal a dominant 6-0 victory for Harimau Malaya.

Despite the six goals, Malaysia's total falls short of the 11 goals Indonesia scored, preventing them from advancing to the final where they will face Vietnam in the third-fourth place playoff match in Jakarta on Monday.
