The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) initiated searches of the office and home of Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, as part of an ongoing probe into alleged financial misconduct. The investigation began after more than an hour of questioning by EOCO officials at the EOCO headquarters on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

Nana Awuah voluntarily turned himself in to EOCO after a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Accra High Court earlier in the day. He arrived at the EOCO office accompanied by his lawyer, Samuel Atta Kyea, and several of his parliamentary colleagues, including Kofi Amankwah Manu, Obiri Yeboah Subin MP, and former Deputy Attorney-General Joseph Kpemka.

Following the questioning, EOCO officials executed a search warrant, granted by the High Court on Wednesday, September 30, after they claimed they had exhausted all reasonable efforts to compel the MP's attendance for questioning. The warrant authorized the search of both the MP's office and residence.

The MP is under investigation for alleged unauthorized financial transactions at SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Limited. The investigation is said to encompass suspected offenses, including financial loss, dissipation of public funds, and money laundering. Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has confirmed the nature of the probe.

It is essential to note that the allegations against Nana Awuah have not yet been established in court.
