SEOUL, Oct. 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korean plant builder Doosan Enerbility Co. and its Vietnamese partner PetroVietnam Technical Service Corp. (PTSC) have secured a 840 billion-won (US$618 million) deal to construct a gas-fired power plant in Vietnam by 2030. The joint venture, named the O Mon 3 gas-fired combined-cycle power plant project, will be built at a location approximately 180 kilometers southwest of Ho Chi Minh City for Petrovietnam (PVN), according to a press release from Doosan Enerbility.
This contract follows another 900 billion-won EPC agreement in June 2022, also with PTSC, for a second gas-fired combined-cycle power plant at the same site, slated for completion by 2028. The company anticipates securing additional contracts from PVN, which aims to build more gas-fired power plants across central and northern regions of Vietnam.
Doosan Enerbility has already clinched five gas-fired power plant deals this year, totaling 3.87 trillion won.
