Design Doha's international residency programme, Crafting Design Futures, is returning with four designers from Qatar and the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region. They will work with Mexican master artisans as part of the Qatar-Mexico 2026 Year of Culture.
The programme brings designers and artisans together to explore how inherited craft knowledge can be used in contemporary design through research, experimentation and shared making. The participants will learn traditional techniques, such as ancestral engraving and hand-hammered copper, in family-run workshops.
The resulting works will be presented at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City from October 8 to November 1 as part of Design Week Mexico's Visión y Tradición exhibition, according to The Peninsula Qatar.
