DEA and Guardia Civil Target Hondón in International Drug Raids

The Guardia Civil has conducted searches in Hondón de las Nieves and La Romana as part of a widespread operation targeting an alleged international drug trafficking network. This joint operation involves the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Europol, with 23 coordinated searches taking place across Spain on Wednesday morning.

In addition to Hondón de las Nieves and La Romana, officers are also conducting raids in Barcelona, Begues, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Lleida, and Madrid. The Guardia Civil has stated that several arrests are anticipated, alongside the seizure of items linked to the organization's alleged criminal activities. However, no specific arrest figures or details of the seized items have been released at this time.

The searches in Alicante province have focused on La Romana and Hondón de las Nieves, both inland municipalities in the Vinalopó area. Authorities have provided no information on the number of properties searched or the suspected roles of those under investigation. The international cooperation between European and American law enforcement agencies highlights the global nature of the inquiry.

Specific details regarding the type of drugs allegedly trafficked, quantities, or monetary sums involved have not been publicly disclosed by investigators. The operation remains ongoing, with further updates expected as the searches continue.
