Daewoo E&C CEO Meets Turkmenistan President

Daewoo E&C, the sole domestic firm invited to a major event in Turkmenistan, dispatched its CEO Lee Kang-seok to the Central Asian nation to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence Day on September 28th. The visit aimed to reinforce the cordial ties between the two countries and explore potential collaboration opportunities in the fields of construction and infrastructure.

During the meeting with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, CEO Lee expressed his enthusiasm for developing a long-term partnership with Turkmenistan. He highlighted the Karakum Canal modernization project, for which Daewoo E&C has been actively working, as a crucial agenda item. The CEO pledged to contribute to the growth of economic and infrastructure cooperation between the two nations.

President Berdimuhamedov warmly welcomed Lee's visit, stating that it would breathe new life into Daewoo E&C's local projects and strengthen bilateral relations. Over the course of his five-day and four-night stay, Lee engaged in numerous discussions with high-ranking local officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Turkmenistan's construction, power, and production sectors.

He also met with Lee Won-jae, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan, to review the public-private cooperation system.

Turkmenistan, a promising new market that Daewoo E&C has been exploring for years, is known for its abundant natural resources and robust economic growth. The company's Chairman, Jung Won-ju, has been visiting the region consistently to assess its potential. Prior to the Independence Day celebration, Daewoo E&C hosted the "Turkmenistan Culture Day" event at its headquarters in Seoul on September 17th.
