Customer's car among vehicles destroyed in RM100,000 workshop fire
KUALA TERENGGANU: A customer’s Perodua Alza was among the vehicles destroyed when a workshop in Kampung Pulau Bahagia, Manir, was razed by fire early today, causing more than RM100,000 in losses.
Early this morning, a workshop in Kampung Pulau Bahagia, Manir, Kuala Terengganu, was engulfed in flames, resulting in significant damages and the destruction of several vehicles. The workshop owner, Muhammad Rusdan Safiee, a 43-year-old man, received a phone call around 1am, alerting him to the fire. As soon as he arrived at the scene, he noticed that the fire had spread to the rear of the workshop and the firefighters had not yet arrived.
Despite his efforts to move the van and other vehicles out of the premises, thick smoke prevented him from doing so. He was only able to save one vehicle, a Perodua Alza belonging to a customer.
The fire caused extensive damages, destroying a Perodua Alza, a Proton Saga Aeroback, and a Honda EX5 motorcycle. Additionally, workshop equipment including a diagnostic scanner, welding machine, and office computer were also destroyed, leading to an estimated total loss of more than RM100,000. Rusdan Safiee stated that the workshop had been running for about six years and was the family's primary source of income.
No casualties were reported, and the fire was brought under control at 1.43am, with the operation ending around 2.32am. The cause and extent of the losses are still under investigation.
