Councillors’ Corner #10 | DA’s Zerwick accounts for JB Marks’ Ward 4
JB Marks Municipality's Ward 4 Councillor is featured in this week’s edition Councillors’ Corner.
In today's Councillors' Corner #10, Digital News Producer Lebo Tshangela interviews Johan Zerwick, the Democratic Alliance's (DA) Ward 4 Councillor for North West's JB Marks Municipality. Zerwick's ward encompasses residential, industrial, and institutional areas in Potchefstroom and the Ikageng Township. He has expressed a negative experience in the municipality, stating that the DA and Freedom Front Plus are the opposition parties in council, while the ANC, PA, and EFF hold the majority.
Zerwick highlights the shocking contrast between the needs of his constituents in Ward 4 and his inability to address them. He mentions that Extention 9 is a squatter area with informal houses, which he finds disheartening. Despite seeing the struggles and living conditions of his constituents, Zerwick claims he cannot make a difference due to the political landscape and the influence of the opposition parties in the municipality.
