CM KP Inaugurates New Rs. 1.6 Billion Underpass in Peshawar

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi officially opened the Hayatabad Toll Plaza Underpass on Wednesday. The Rs1.6 billion construction was finished in a record 90 days to alleviate traffic congestion and improve flow in Hayatabad and surrounding regions. Spanning 500 metres, the underpass features a 130-metre barrel, 665 piles and accommodates two lanes.

It offers a direct, smoother path for traffic traveling from Detour Road on the Bara side towards Ring Road. Officials emphasized that the project aims to decrease congestion at the Hayatabad Toll Plaza and nearby roads, enhance vehicle movement and minimize unnecessary delays. By shortening commuters' travel times and enhancing traffic management and mobility in Hayatabad and adjacent areas, the underpass is anticipated to provide significant benefits.

Provincial cabinet members, including Meena Khan Afridi, Shafi Jan, Mian Umar Kakakhel and Adil Iqbal, along with National Assembly members Junaid Akbar and Asif Khan, as well as parliamentarians elected from Peshawar, party leaders and numerous citizens, attended the inauguration ceremony.
