AMC launches birthday party program with private rentals

Leawood, Kansas - AMC Theatres has unveiled a new birthday party booking program that offers up to 25% savings on private theatre rentals. The service is set to be available at around 300 locations across the United States. The program, which can be booked online, allows guests to reserve private screening rooms for birthday celebrations as far out as six weeks in advance.

Pricing at these events is contingent upon the full-price adult ticket for a comparable showtime at maximum capacity, with discounts calculated accordingly.

The package includes a selection of food and beverages such as popcorn, drinks, hot dogs, and Dippin’ Dots, allowing for a bespoke party setup. Through a collaboration with Evite, guests can produce digital party invites and manage guest lists within the booking platform. This has reportedly boosted AMC-hosted party attendance by nearly 25% compared to last year. According to data from Evite, over 70% of movie theatre events on the platform are birthday parties, generally planned 25 days in advance for weekend time slots.

Speaking about the program, Ellen Copaken, Vice President of Business Development at AMC, noted that it provides a cost-effective solution for families and friends seeking to celebrate on the big screen. David Yeom, CEO of Evite, added that AMC is the most frequently mentioned theater destination on their platform. As the largest movie exhibition company in the United States and Europe, AMC operates approximately 850 theatres and 9,600 screens globally.
