A town, a team and a dream come together as Newcastle rises as one

Newcastle's Newcastle Knights and the town of Newcastle are deeply intertwined, forming a bond that transcends the sport. The Knights are more than just a team to the residents of Newcastle; they are a symbol of the community, embodying its hopes, dreams, and fears. This connection is evident in the way the community rallies behind the Knights, celebrating their victories and enduring their defeats.

The Knights' impact on the town is palpable, with the red and blue lights adorning Newcastle City Hall, the colors adorning houses throughout the region, and the demand for red and blue sausages. Fans go to great lengths to show their support, even traveling to Sydney to ensure they don't miss the excitement.

The Knights' success, or lack thereof, hasn't deterred the town's unwavering support. Despite playing 449 games in Newcastle since 1988 and only ten of them resulting in a win before this year, the Knights have consistently attracted large crowds. Tyson Frizell, a former Illawarra player now living in Newcastle, recalls feeling the city's support firsthand during home games. He describes the town as a welcoming community, where people are eager to help and support each other, much like the Knights do for their fans.

The Knights' significance is evident in the anticipation that fills the air during game day. Even those who don't have tickets to the grand final or watch party can find ways to participate, whether it's watching the game at Tower Cinemas or enjoying the lively atmosphere in local pubs and bowls clubs. The sense of unity and camaraderie among the people of Newcastle is truly remarkable, making the Knights a way of life and home for the entire community.
