Zamfara security challenges not yet over — SSG

The Nigerian Army has recently established three new infantry battalions in Zamfara State, as part of their ongoing efforts to bolster security operations within the region. The newly activated units are the 12 Infantry Battalion in Bakura, the 23 Infantry Battalion in Kaura Namoda, and the 28 Infantry Battalion in Anka. This deployment aims to enhance operational coverage, increase rapid response capabilities, and bolster security within the areas of responsibility for these three battalions.

Major General B.P. Koughna, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of the Sector 2 Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, was present at the deployment ceremonies. He was accompanied by Colonel Joseph Umaru, the Acting Commander of the 1 Brigade. Umaru called upon the local residents to assist security agencies by providing accurate and timely information regarding any potential security threats.

He also urged the newly deployed troops to uphold discipline, professionalism, and operational vigilance while fulfilling their constitutional duties.

In addition to the military's efforts, the Emirs of Bakura, Anka, and Kaura Namoda have pledged their support to the security agencies. They have committed to facilitating community mobilization and information sharing, thereby working in tandem with the security forces to ensure a safer environment for all citizens in the region.
