Zaluzhny believes EU countries currently unable to reach consensus among themselves

Valeriy Zaluzhny, Ukraine's Ambassador to the United Kingdom and former Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces, believes the European Union's future hinges on ending the war and creating new rules. However, the 27 member states currently struggle to agree with one another. Zaluzhny argues that the war's impact extends beyond Ukraine, affecting the security of Europe and the entire world.

He questions whether the EU is prepared to handle the challenges it faces, given that the member countries often fail to reach consensus even though they should function as a unified entity. Zaluzhny emphasized the ongoing war's gravity and the EU's potential to not only halt it but also construct a security system suited to contemporary challenges.

He voiced his opinion about the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) due to the EU's readiness to ensure security and the unique Ukrainian experience in this regard, as no other European nation possesses such expertise. Consequently, Zaluzhny stressed, the EU's fate will depend on a collective decision to cease the war in Ukraine and establish new rules for Europe.
