Wike’s son denies $2.1m land deal, alleges forgery

Jordan Nyesom-Wike, the son of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, has denied accepting $2.1 million for an Abuja land deal, claiming his signature on related documents was forged. A lawyer himself, Jordan testified in an FCT High Court that he was unaware of one of the men said to have accompanied him during the alleged cash payment.

The dispute stems from a suit filed by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited for an alleged failed real estate transaction. The claimants, seeking $2.1 million, assert they paid Jordan for a proposed property development project in Katampe and Guzape. However, Jordan maintains he never received the money or had any business dealings with the claimants.

During the court proceedings, he challenged the authenticity of a contract bearing a signature attributed to him, stating, "I did not receive any money from anybody. I did not sign any document for land deal." Jordan also acknowledged he was not acquainted with one of the men, Onor Sandy, said to have been present when the money was allegedly paid.

The claimants allege they met Jordan in 2023, formed a business relationship in 2025, and agreed to develop houses in Abuja. Garba claimed Jordan introduced a real estate venture, promising $4.2 million for the project, but later demanded the $2.1 million after believing he had the authority to provide the land. The claimants alleged the money was handed over in cash to Jordan at a residence in Gwarimpa, Abuja, on September 26, 2025, with Jordan's presence accompanied by Onor Sandy.

Jordan denies these claims and asserts he was unaware of the alleged forgery, having seen the forged document only on the day of the court proceedings. The suit seeks the return of the $2.1 million, with 10% interest from the judgment date until liquidation, plus N100 million in damages for psychological distress and legal costs.
