Werder Bremen confirm striker's contract termination

Werder Bremen has announced the immediate termination of striker Dawid Kownacki's contract with the Bundesliga club. The decision was reached by mutual consent, according to the German side. Clemens Fritz, Werder Bremen's managing director, stated that discussions with Kownacki in recent weeks revealed that terminating the contract was the most suitable option for both parties involved.

Fritz further expressed gratitude towards Kownacki for his professionalism during his tenure at Werder and wished him the best in his future sporting and personal endeavors.

Kownacki, a 29-year-old Polish forward, signed with Werder Bremen from Fortuna Düsseldorf in the summer of 2023. Throughout his two-year stay in the club's colors, he featured in 22 matches for the German side. Prior to joining Werder, he experienced loan spells at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hertha BSC over the previous two seasons.
