WAFU-B: NFF appeals CAF cancellation of Edo Queens’ victory over Ampem Darkoa

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appealed to the CAF Appeals Board against the cancellation of Edo Queens’ winning victory over Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the WAFU-B competition. The appeal, signed by the Deputy General Secretary of the NFF, Emmanuel Edem Ikpeme, was sent on September 28, 2026. The NFF believes that Edo Queens were not given a fair hearing before the CAF made the decision to cancel their 4-1 penalty-shootout win and order a replay.

The NFF stated that even if there was an error in match procedure, Edo Queens should not be held responsible for the sporting consequences. The Nigerian federation argues that CAF does not have unlimited power to impose remedies for regulatory irregularities. The NFF wants the Appeals Committee to determine if the regulations specifically allow for the annulment of a completed penalty shootout and resumption of the final from extra time, with neither club responsible for the breach.

The NFF emphasized that Edo Queens complied with the rules and instructions given by officials, and therefore, cannot be held responsible for the regulatory breach.
