Verkehr: Deutschlandticket wird 2027 wohl teurer – Entscheidung steht an

Berlin - The cost of the Deutschlandticket, set to increase next year, may rise from €63 to around €67, according to a media report. The discussion centers on €66.90 per month, reported the "Rheinische Post" from the circles of the "Coordination Council for the Deutschlandticket". This body will determine the new price on Wednesday.

The price calculation is based on a cost index that takes into account personnel, energy, and operating costs. The "Coordination Council for the Deutschlandticket" comprises federal, state, municipal umbrella organizations, and the transport industry. For the first time, the price would be determined by such a cost index, agreed upon by the transport ministers of the federal states.

This would mark the first time the price is determined by such a method. Currently, approximately 14.5 million people hold a Deutschlandticket, which allows them to use public regional and local transportation nationwide. The ticket has cost €63 per month since the beginning of the year, up from €58. For transport associations, this represents a significant financial loss, prompting the federal government and the states to fund the ticket with €1.5 billion annually each.
