US Launches AI Portal to Bring All Government Services Under One Platform

The United States government has introduced a new AI-powered platform called America.gov, which consolidates all federal government services into a single online portal. President Donald Trump unveiled the platform on Tuesday and signed an executive order mandating federal agencies to integrate compatible services into America.gov. The objective is to establish the website as the primary entry point for accessing government information and services.

America.gov functions similarly to popular AI chatbots, allowing users to pose questions in simple language and receive responses based on data from official government websites. It also provides links to the original sources and guidance on subsequent actions. For instance, users can inquire about passport renewals or accessing government benefits without needing to browse multiple agency websites.

The platform, developed by the White House’s National Design Studio in collaboration with the General Services Administration (GSA), amalgamates information from over 29,000 government websites using AI-enhanced search tools. Currently, America.gov assists users with common federal requirements, such as passport renewals, Social Security updates, and other essential services. However, its capabilities are expected to expand over time, with additional services planned for inclusion.

Initially, America.gov is designed to respond to straightforward inquiries, but the long-term vision is to enable users to sign in, complete government transactions, and access services without navigating through various federal agency websites. The executive order emphasizes the potential for legal and technical integration, including the utilization of Login.gov for secure authentication. Agencies are required to identify eligible public-facing services that can be linked to the platform.

The government aims to streamline interactions with federal agencies by providing users with a single location for information and, eventually, the ability to perform routine government tasks.
