UP Floods: Gandak River Crosses Danger Level In Kushinagar, 32 Villages Affected As Relief Operations Intensify

On September 30, the flood situation in Uttar Pradesh remained active as the Gandak River crossed the danger level in Kushinagar. District Relief Commissioner Dr. Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod directed the administration to intensify relief and rescue operations. The river's water level was recorded at 96.48 meters, 0.48 meters above the danger level of 96 meters. As a result, 32 villages were affected - 18 in Khadda tehsil and 14 in Tamkuhiraj tehsil.

In response, officials have shifted residents from affected villages to safe locations. Flood outposts and relief camps have been set up in the flood-affected areas, with continuous monitoring of affected families' needs. Rescue teams from NDRF, SDRF, and PAC, along with 66 local divers, have been deployed. Boats are also available for the rescue efforts.

To provide for the affected families, 13 community kitchens have been established in Khadda tehsil and three in Tamkuhiraj tehsil, offering regular meals. So far, 13,030 lunch packets and 2,100 ration kits have been distributed. The administration is closely monitoring the availability and distribution of relief materials.

Medical teams have been deployed to offer health facilities in the flood-affected areas, and affected families are being given necessary medical assistance. Police, health, animal husbandry, power supply, and other concerned departments are actively involved in the relief and rescue operations. The administration is continuously monitoring the flood situation and intensifying relief and rescue operations as needed, with a special focus on providing immediate assistance under the Yogi government's disaster management arrangements.
