Two more suspects arrested in Overasselt shooting inquiry

Two more suspects have been arrested in Amsterdam as part of the investigation into a fatal shooting at a farmhouse in Gelderland. Police also recovered firearms, including an automatic weapon, from searches in Diemen and Hoofddorp on Tuesday.

The victims of the September 1 attack were a security guard and two police officers. The farmhouse's owner, 28-year-old Jan G., was arrested in Germany two weeks ago on suspicion of attempting to smuggle cocaine through the port of Dunkirk. Police believe he was targeted in retaliation for a stolen drugs shipment, as indicated by a video obtained following the incident. The shipment, totaling 1,283kg, belonged to "Bolle Jos" Leijdekkers, a notorious criminal reportedly living in Sierra Leone.

The two latest arrests bring the total number of apprehensions to 36. Most of the others have been charged in court with murder or manslaughter. Of the suspects, two are minors aged 16 and 17, while the rest are men aged between 18 and 32 from France, Netherlands, Algeria, Libya, Belgium, and Ukraine. A third man, aged 19, was also arrested during one of the raids, but his involvement in the gang is currently under investigation.
