Torrevieja Budgets Nearly €74,000 for Municipal Nativity Scene

The Torrevieja City Council has allocated nearly €74,000 for this year's Municipal Nativity Scene, ensuring all aspects from the artistic display to security are covered under one contract. The installation is scheduled to debut in Plaza de la Constitución on November 28, 2026, and remain on display until January 7, 2027. This budget supports a traditional Christmas tradition while bringing residents and tourists to the town center, potentially benefiting local businesses.

The centerpiece of the display, an arched tent measuring 20 by 10 meters, features rigid panels and is estimated to cost €17,494. The council's tender outlines a comprehensive contract covering platforms, carpeting, barriers, transportation, assembly, and dismantling, with a total expenditure of €73,844, including VAT. Each of the ten biblical scenes, such as the Annunciation and the Nativity, will be professionally arranged and decorated by the contractor, with a budget of €1,727.88 per scene, totaling €17,278.80.

An additional €5,759.60 is set aside for maintenance after the exhibition. Security personnel, who must maintain at least 417 hours of coverage during the event, will manage visitor access, ensuring no more than 100 people are inside at any given time. This centralized approach to the Nativity Scene's production aims to streamline coordination and enhance visitor safety, marking a significant investment in the town's festive traditions.
