Tinubu’s regional agenda offers investors clearer route into Nigeria – Ahmadu, Masha tell USAFRICA Business Week

The Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria has called upon the Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu, to take immediate and transparent steps towards inclusive development for the 66 years of Nigeria's independence. Mrs. Rose Mordi, the organization's CEO, addressed journalists during a media briefing coinciding with the foundation's 25th anniversary and October awareness month activities.

She highlighted the need for the government to be more open and accountable regarding policies affecting citizens, particularly vulnerable groups like those with Down syndrome. Mordi emphasized that Nigeria's progress since gaining independence should lead to improved living conditions and dignity for all, including marginalized citizens.

She urged the government to implement healthcare policies that specifically address the needs of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring affordability, early intervention, and specialized care. Mordi stressed that Nigeria's independence should symbolize freedom from exclusion and barriers to opportunity, not just from colonial rule.

The Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria vowed to continue advocating for inclusion in Nigeria's national development agenda during its awareness campaign and 25th anniversary.
