Tea seller beaten to death in Adamawa

Muhammad Auwal Idris, a tea vendor, met his demise in Nassarawa Quarters of Yola North Local Government Area in Adamawa State. The tragic incident occurred at a 'banga joint' where he was serving customers. The deceased was allegedly involved in a dispute with a group of individuals when he asked them to pay for a tea he had sold them for N50. A disagreement ensued and escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in Idris being severely beaten until his death.

Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident following a report made by the victim's brother, Aliyu Idris, to the Doubeli Divisional Headquarters on September 28, 2026. Upon receiving the report, police officers rushed to the scene and found the deceased unconscious. Despite receiving medical attention, Idris was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police have identified the suspects as Isa, Japhet, Omo, and Henry. However, these individuals are at large and efforts are being made to locate and apprehend them. The community has expressed outrage over the incident, calling for justice for the deceased. This case is expected to serve as a deterrent against similar acts of violence.
