Students urged to make informed career choices, upskill continuously

Associate Professor V.M. Manikandan from SRM University-A.P. Amaravati emphasized the importance of making informed career choices and continuous skill upgrading for engineering students at a seminar. The Hindu Future India Club, in collaboration with Paari School of Business and PVP Siddhartha Institute of Technology, organized the event.

Students can choose from three broad career pathways after completing their B.Tech: employment, higher education or entrepreneurship. Manikandan explained that recruiters look for skills such as programming, problem-solving, communication, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, teamwork and hands-on project experience. He also discussed employment opportunities in the private sector, including IT services, product companies, startups and Global Capability Centres, as well as in the public sector, such as PSUs, ISRO, DRDO, civil services, banking and State government departments.

For higher education, options include M.Tech, M.S., MBA and direct Ph.D. programs, along with scholarships, fellowships and research opportunities. Manikandan encouraged students to identify real-world problems, develop relevant skills and explore entrepreneurial opportunities while still in college.
