Starbucks Japan releases new Pikachu Honey Cream Latte into the wild for new Pokémon collaboration

Starbucks Japan introduces the Pikachu Honey Cream Latte, a limited-edition limited collaboration with Nintendo's Pokémon. The much-anticipated drink was unveiled on September 30, 2021, and quickly became a sought-after beverage for Pokémon enthusiasts. The Pikachu Honey Cream Latte, priced at 690 yen (US$4.55) for dine-in, features a unique pouring technique that creates a visual appearance reminiscent of Pikachu's colors.

This special drink emerged as the winner from over 700 Pokémon-themed beverage recipes, created by baristas across Japan in the "Pokémon + Starbucks Barista Battle." The latte boasts a honey and caramel sauce base that gives it a Pikachu-like hue, paired with heart-shaped sugar pieces atop chocolate sauce-slathered honey-flavored whipped cream, mimicking Pikachu's distinctive red cheeks.

Upon tasting, the Pikachu Honey Cream Latte offers a sweet and creamy flavor profile, with the honey imparting a distinctive electric zap. The chocolate undertones complement the drink's flavors, creating a harmonious balance that leaves a lasting impression. The latte is available for just nine days, from September 30 to October 8, 2021, making it a must-try for Pokémon fans in Japan.
