Sindh Approves Special Security Unit Headquarters Worth Rs. 9.5 Billion

The Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has approved the construction of a state-of-the-art Special Security Unit headquarters and security training academy in Chowkandi at a cost of Rs 9.497 billion. This decision was made during a meeting discussing the comprehensive police security complex project. The chief minister ordered the immediate commencement of the first phase of the SSU Academy in the ongoing fiscal year.

The academy will span over 29.43 acres of land, with Rs 4.483 billion allocated for its initial phase. It is designed to cater to over 3,000 male and 300 female personnel, offering extensive training facilities. These include firing ranges, a tactical training complex, simulation rooms, K-9 training facilities, a SWAT obstacle course, as well as academic, administrative, and residential blocks.

The complex will also boast auditoriums, research and development facilities, libraries, computer laboratories, a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports complex, and a medical centre. Additional features comprise a CCTV command centre, watchtowers, blast-resistant security walls, and dining halls capable of accommodating 1,000 people at a time.

Chief Minister Shah emphasized the necessity of modern, professional, and technology-equipped police forces to tackle future security challenges and safeguard citizens. He termed the project as an investment in Sindh's long-term security system and instructed the Finance and Planning departments to expedite the technical and financial evaluation.
