Meyers questioned the necessity of the tour when Trump had previously mentioned the ballroom would be situated atop an underground military complex due to a lawsuit filed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The trust sought to halt the ballroom construction, which required congressional authorization, but work could continue for safety, security, and structural integrity purposes.

"Isn't this ballroom supposed to include a bunch of top-secret military facilities?" Meyers asked on Late Night. "And if it does, maybe don't do the tour with the heads of foreign governments."
