Seoul's autumn garden festival brings 51 new displays to Maeheon Citizens' Forest

Seoul's international garden festival is expanding into Maeheon Citizens Forest in southern Seoul, introducing 51 new gardens, outdoor performances, and wellness programs. The 2026 Seoul International Garden Festival commenced at Seoul Forest in May, with an expansion to the Maeheon Citizens Forest in Seocho District from Thursday until October 27. Simultaneously, the Seoul Forest exhibition will continue.

This festival commemorates the 40th anniversary of Maeheon Citizens Forest, featuring creations by 367 local gardeners, alongside competition entries and gardens sponsored by companies and institutions. Among the 51 gardens on display are 14 competition gardens designed by professionals, five by local citizens, and five by students. Additionally, 31 gardens will be presented by enthusiastic local hobby gardeners, and six gardens will be sponsored by companies.

An opening ceremony is scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Forest Stage, which will feature performances and award presentations for the garden competition participants. Tourists have the opportunity to join guided tours three times a day, during which gardeners will share the stories behind their designs. The festival will also offer 128 engaging activities.
