Selangor allocates RM100,000 to help wives and children wronged in maintenance issues

Shah Alam, September 30 — The Selangor government has set aside RM100,000 to launch the Selangor Rahmah Maintenance Assistance Programme 2026, aimed at providing support to women and children impacted by syariah court judgments. Anfaal Saari, chairman of the Selangor Women’s Development and Community Welfare Committee, revealed that the temporary financial aid could help up to 50 families during the ongoing law enforcement process.

The one-off assistance amounts to RM2,000 for the spouse and RM1,000 for each child, distributed by the Family Support Division (BSK) of the Selangor Syariah Judiciary Department (JAKESS). The initiative, carried out through JAKESS, aims to offer temporary relief to women and children who have a maintenance order from the Syariah Court but have not received the payment from the judgement debtor.

To be eligible, applicants must be Muslim and reside in Selangor, with a household income under RM5,000 per month, and possess a current Syariah Court maintenance order that is not being paid by the debtor. Interested individuals can apply by visiting the JAKESS office at the BSK to verify eligibility and submit the application form.
