Sean McVay says NFL agrees officials erred on pass interference that swung Rams’ loss to Broncos

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay stated that the NFL informed him officials made a mistake in calling a late pass-interference penalty during Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. The penalty, which occurred when cornerback Josh Wallace interfered with wide receiver Pat Bryant's interception, negated Bryant's catch and extended the drive, ultimately leading to Denver's touchdown and a 30-26 loss for the Rams.

Replays clearly showed that Wallace grabbed Bryant, not the other way around. McVay had asked the league for further clarification on the sequence, a routine practice for coaches to analyze officiating decisions and instruct their players. Despite the outcome, McVay emphasized that the call was final and that his interest lay in ensuring Wallace's technique aligned with official pass-interference guidelines.

The coach, however, acknowledged the game was concluded and urged the team to focus on moving forward, acknowledging their current status as a 1-2 team. Wide receiver Davante Adams echoed his coach's sentiment, declining to comment on the specifics of the penalty, stating that expressing his opinion wouldn't alter the result. Adams underscored that his words wouldn't influence the situation, reinforcing the team's decision to move on from the incident.
