Sean McVay on report that Myles Garrett will miss 6 weeks: 'That's new to me'

The Los Angeles Rams' head coach, Sean McVay, expressed surprise upon hearing a report that their star player, Myles Garrett, could face a six-week absence due to knee surgery. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the report stated that Garrett's recovery would extend two weeks beyond the minimum period required while on injured reserve, which is typically four weeks. McVay, during a Monday press conference, said he was unaware of the six-week timeline.

"I'm not familiar with that report," McVay told J.B. Long. "What I do know is that he's making good progress. We knew he was going to be out a minimum of four weeks. We haven't really tried to put a hard deadline on it, so I’m not familiar with that."

While McVay did not outright refute Rapoport's report, he also mentioned that Garrett could potentially return after missing only four games, depending on his recovery progress. The Rams had initially deemed Garrett ready for Week 1 after missing the majority of training camp, but later realized he was not performing at his best. Consequently, Garrett now faces at least two more games on the injury report before he could possibly return.
