Scammers dealing in fake dollars have returned to Bauchi — Police raise alarm

The Bauchi State Police Command thwarted an alleged abduction attempt, apprehending a 60-year-old suspect, Abdullahi Abubakar, in Shira Local Government Area. Usman Dauda, a 16-year-old boy, was rescued unharmed during the operation conducted on Monday, September 28. The incident unfolded when the victim's 50-year-old father reported his son's disappearance from Misau town to Bangala Village by the suspect.

Abubakar is believed to have intended to relocate the teenager to Kano for undisclosed reasons. Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Yana Division swiftly intervened and secured the teenager's release. The victim was subsequently taken to the General Hospital, Yana, for a medical examination. The suspect has been arrested.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused restrained the boy in his room for a day without adequate nourishment. In a separate incident within Bauchi metropolis, police officers from 'A' Division arrested five suspects involved in breaking into an unfinished building at Doya Quarters. They were apprehended around 4:30 pm on Monday for removing windows and glass from the structure.

The stolen items were subsequently recovered. Operatives also made arrests at Unguwan Igbo early on Monday morning, suspecting theft after finding concealed items in a black bag. The owners later identified the recovered property and presented evidence to the police. Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the cases to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and prosecution.
