Saman Taman Sri Muda: Kerajaan Selangor dapatkan pandangan penasihat undang-undang

Selangor will gain legal advice and perspectives following the High Court's decision granting victory to 50 residents of Taman Sri Muda who sued over severe flooding in December 2021. Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Amirudin Shari stated that the legal counsel's insight is crucial for determining subsequent actions, including the possibility of appealing the High Court's ruling.

The minister will consult with the State Legal Counsel's office to assess the next steps, particularly in the context of a potential High Court appeal. He emphasized that there is still room for legal challenges to substantiate specific justifications. During a recent press conference, Amirudin highlighted that the responsibility for the Klang River flood mitigation project, including the Sungai Klang flood control project in Seksyen 25, falls jointly on state authorities, namely the Water Supply and Drainage Department (JPS) Selangor and Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), as well as the federal government.

He noted that the deepening of the Sungai Klang river has significantly improved its capacity, reducing the risk of flooding compared to 2021. The minister also mentioned that the maintenance of sluice gates, which had been malfunctioning at times, is now fully operational, effectively preventing floods in the area. The comprehensive Klang River flood control project, expected to be completed by January 31, 2029, involves the Water Supply and Drainage Department and the federal government, while the state government's deepening efforts are part of its separate flood mitigation strategy.
