Russia Reactivates Disinformation Campaign About “American Biolabs In Ukraine” — CCD

Russian propaganda has once again intensified a disinformation campaign regarding purported American biolabs in Ukraine, according to the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) of the National Security and Defense Council. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov asserted that the US and Ukraine neglected to address Moscow's claims about biological weapons development, labeling this as confirmation of Russian allegations.

However, the international community's absence of response to these accusations is attributed to their complete lack of foundation and sheer absurdity. Despite the circulation of such conspiratorial narratives in Russian propaganda since 2014, Russia has not presented any substantiated evidence supporting the existence of US biolabs in Ukraine.

The CCD emphasized that allegations about biolabs serve as a component of Moscow's information warfare, and the persistent reintroduction of this falsehood by Russian diplomats suggests a deficiency in fresh arguments to justify the war to both domestic and foreign audiences. Earlier reports highlighted another fabricated narrative from Russian propaganda media concerning secret laboratories near Donbas, where pathogens causing tuberculosis were allegedly artificially enhanced.
