RIMS Adilabad fire: Eight rescued infants undergoing treatment in Hyderabad, one at RIMS

Adilabad District Collector Rajarshi Shah reported on September 30 that eight infants affected by the fire at the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) in Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad, are receiving treatment in Hyderabad. The health of these infants is being continuously monitored, and officials are coordinating closely with hospitals to ensure they receive necessary care.

Among the 27 infants initially transferred, five died and 13 were discharged after treatment. Currently, one infant is still being treated at RIMS, while the others are in stable condition in Hyderabad. Seven discharged infants are from Maharashtra, and six are from Adilabad district; their health details have been shared with local health authorities.

Additionally, a 34-bed Mother and Newborn Intensive Care Unit (MNICU) has been established at RIMS to enhance specialized care for newborns, with a future capacity of 34 beds.
