Rawalpindi Commissioner Orders Crackdown on Illegal Housing Schemes

Rawalpindi Commissioner Salman Ghani has instructed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to intensify measures against illegal housing schemes and unauthorized development across the city. Ghani made these announcements during a RDA meeting that focused on land-use concerns, housing schemes, and existing enforcement activities.

The commissioner emphasized the importance of enhancing oversight of land use, as well as strengthening the use of geo-tagging, land-record verification, and monitoring of housing schemes. He also called for routine evaluations of both approved and unapproved housing projects to curb unauthorized development and marketing efforts. All officials are required to ensure that records related to land use, housing schemes, and development projects are precise, up-to-date, and correctly verified.

Furthermore, Ghani ordered prompt action upon the identification of any violations, discrepancies, or unauthorized activities. He stressed the necessity of documenting enforcement measures and following up on any identified violations. Additionally, he directed relevant RDA departments to improve coordination and information-sharing regarding planning approvals, site inspections, land use, and enforcement actions.

Ghani assured that accurate records, field monitoring, geo-tagging, and modern technology would assist the authority in managing development activities more effectively and responding to violations in a timely manner.
