Prime Minister holds phone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister

Egyptian Foreign Ministry played a pivotal role in securing the release of Dr. Peter Semaan Marzouk, an Egyptian doctor detained in Maldives, and ensuring his safe return to Egypt. The Ministry's efforts were spearheaded by Foreign Affairs Minister Badr Abdelatty, who directed the Egyptian embassy in Sri Lanka, which maintains non-resident representation in Maldives, to promptly contact Maldivian authorities and facilitate Dr. Marzouk's release along with providing necessary consular support.

The Ministry's consular team maintained constant communication with Dr. Marzouk's family, providing them with updates on the progress of the release and the steps taken to resolve the situation. Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians, Haddad Abdel-Tawab al-Gohary, made significant strides in resolving the matter by conducting extensive negotiations with the Maldivian foreign ministry's consular department director, emphasizing the importance of ensuring Dr. Marzouk's well-being and a prompt release.

The culmination of these diplomatic efforts led to Maldivian authorities approving Dr. Marzouk's release, thereby adhering to the principles of their bilateral relationship. Upon his return to Egypt, Ambassador Haddad Abdel-Tawab al-Gohary personally received Dr. Marzouk and his family at the Ministry's headquarters, where his family expressed profound gratitude for the Ministry's relentless efforts and the support extended by other concerned agencies.

The Foreign Ministry also issued a stern reminder to Egyptian citizens traveling abroad, urging them to abide by local laws and regulations and to immediately seek assistance from the nearest Egyptian embassy or consulate in case of legal complications.
