Plateau Assembly Hopeful Advocates Institutional Reforms, Community-based Security

In Jos, Kevin Nedim Pankshin, the APC candidate for the Plateau State House of Assembly's Kanke constituency, spoke about his campaign to introduce legislative reforms and enhance public institutions during an interview with journalists. Pankshin, who previously worked as a personal assistant to the APC National Chairman, emphasized his desire to use his position to effect lasting change through law-making and oversight.

Pankshin, who had previously contested the House of Assembly primaries in 2014, is now seeking re-election following the party's zoning arrangement in the Kanke constituency. Regarding the issue of insecurity in Plateau State, he called for a thorough examination of the underlying causes before implementing solutions, cautioning against basing actions on assumptions.

When asked about the proposed creation of a state police force, Pankshin expressed a wait-and-see approach, stating that he needed to study the initiative's operational and legal framework before forming an opinion. His assessment of the APC's readiness for future elections was positive, praising the party's unity despite internal disagreements and describing such debates as a vital aspect of democratic discourse.

Pankshin also advocated for increased collaboration among elected representatives, local government officials, and community leaders to tackle development challenges in Kanke state. He proposed a community-driven development model where elected councillors would work closely with residents to identify local needs and allocate resources accordingly.

The presence of the APC National Chairman, Professor Yilwatda, from Kanke, according to Pankshin, was a significant boost for the constituency, as it had already attracted development projects to the area.
