PKR wants Negri Sembilan administrative impasse resolved swiftly

PKR has called for a swift resolution to the institutional and administrative impasse in Negri Sembilan in order to prevent further damage to government operations and the welfare of its citizens. The party's state chairman, Aminuddin Harun, highlighted the constitutional and royal issues at stake, as well as concerns over the continuity of state administration, economic stability, and public welfare.

The uncertainty surrounding the status of State Executive Council members could delay crucial matters requiring approval by state authorities, including investment, development, land approvals and transfers, and project implementation. This could negatively impact investor confidence, complicate the lives of landowners and businesses, and affect employment rates and household incomes.

Aminuddin, who also represents Port Dickson in Parliament, emphasized the need to maintain representation and effective coordination between the government and the people at the grassroots level. The absence of Village Development and Security Committees and councillors could weaken representation and hinder coordination efforts.

The current situation has led to perceptions that the state government is not functioning effectively due to the prolonged dispute. In a bid to ease tensions, all political leaders should refrain from making statements that could exacerbate the situation and allow constitutional and legal processes to resolve the crisis. On September 29, Negri Sembilan's Menteri Besar, Datuk Ismail Lasim, met with the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz, over the state's administration and the ongoing dispute.

The meeting lasted nearly three hours. Tuanku Muhriz had recently revoked the appointments of 10 state Exco members, effective September 20, a decision that was gazetted on September 24. The affected Exco members include Mohd Faizal Ramli, Zaifulbahri Idris, Mustapha Nagoor, and several others.
