PINSTECH, OGDCL sign contract

Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH) and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) have inked a contract in Islamabad to bolster mutual cooperation, specifically in analytical support for OGDCL's lithium extraction project. Established in 1965, PINSTECH is a leading research and development institute of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).

The agreement gives PINSTECH the responsibility of providing elemental profiling and radioactive-element analysis services to OGDCL. The signing ceremony featured Dr Shakeel Abbas Rofi, Member (Science) of PAEC, and Ahmed Hayat Lak, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of OGDCL. Dr Qamar-ul-Haque, Director General of PINSTECH, and Ejaz Abbas Rizvi, General Manager of OGDCL's Supply Chain Management Department, signed the contract on their organizations' behalf.

Speaking at the event, Dr Rofi and Lak expressed confidence that the collaboration would enhance cooperation between PINSTECH and OGDCL by combining their scientific and technical strengths to address national goals. Munib Ahmed Shafique, Head of PINSTECH's Spectrometry Group, presented an overview of the institute's capabilities in elemental analysis.

Shagufta Shafique, JE (Production) of OGDCL, provided a presentation of the company's scope of work and expansion plans, including its lithium extraction venture in partnership with PINSTECH. The partnership merges PINSTECH's analytical expertise with OGDCL's sector-specific capabilities to uncover new opportunities in Pakistan's mineral and energy sectors.

This initiative is expected to foster the development of local resources and contribute to national objectives.
