Photos: Accra-Kumasi bypasses get new lease of life as contractors return to site

The Accra–Kumasi bypass projects have received a significant boost as contractors have returned to resume construction on the road's various sections. This development was announced by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, during an inspection tour of the project sites. The minister emphasized the government's commitment to completing the bypasses by the end of 2027, stating that it is a priority project for the government.

Contractors working on the different sections also expressed their dedication to meeting the scheduled timelines.

The current progress on the bypass projects is as follows: Osino South Bound at 77%, Osino North Bound at 70%, Anyinam South Bound at 74.6%, Anyinam North Bound at 99%, Enyiresi South Bound at 65%, Enyiresi North Bound at 64%, Konongo South Bound at 74%, and Konongo North Bound at 60%. These improvements are anticipated to enhance road capacity and alleviate congestion in the busy Accra–Kumasi corridor.

In addition to the bypass projects, rehabilitation works are ongoing on the existing Accra–Kumasi Highway. Contractors are currently carrying out sectional maintenance on the heavily deteriorated portions of the highway. This maintenance work will soon be followed by an asphaltic overlay along the entire corridor, further improving the road's condition.
